Instagram said it was investigating why thousands of users had their accounts suddenly suspended.
Users have posted on other social media platforms asking why they were locked out of their profiles and received a message saying: “We suspended your account on October 31, 2022.”
“We know some of you are having trouble accessing your Instagram account,” the company said.
“We are investigating this matter and apologise for the inconvenience.”
According to the Down Detector website, tens of thousands of people have logged problems.
The Verge reports that millions appear to have been affected, with some of the platform’s largest accounts seeing a drop in the number of followers.
Those affected were told they had 30 days to disagree with their suspension.
