New regulation for health technology assessment seeks to facilitate EU-level joint clinical assessment from 2025 Latham & Watkins

The regulation aims to harmonize the clinical and scientific aspects of HTA to enable wider use of innovative health technologies in the EU.

Health Technology Assessment (HTA) is a multidisciplinary, evidence-based process that allows authorities to determine the relative effectiveness of new or existing health technologies (such as medicines and medical devices), focusing on the added value of health technologies. The results of HTAs often affect the degree to which a particular medical technology is adopted and/or reimbursed by the healthcare system in a given country.
