The award-winning executive producer of the hit sitcom Schitt’s Creek has died at the age of 47, according to US media reports.
NBC quoted Variety as saying Ben Fagin’s death was confirmed by United Talent Agency.
He had been suffering from pancreatic cancer and died on Monday.
The American has won numerous awards for his work on comedy – but is also a pioneer behind livestreaming.
By partnering with AOL, he helped make history with an event featuring comedians and musicians, showcasing how to enjoy live content on the new platform.
But it was on Schitt’s Creek that he was so famously successful that he helped secure financing for the show.
He also played a key role in selling the series to other licensees, including Netflix.
Schitt’s Creek ends after six seasons in 2020.
Mr. Fagin’s awards include the 2020 Emmy and the 2021 Golden Globe and Producers Guild Awards.
His work also reunited him with the comedy duo Cheech & Chong, who enjoyed stand-up success in the 1970s and ’80s.

Mr. Feigin started his career at Warner Bros. and later helped build the comedy and corporate divisions at Anonymous Content.
He is married to talent agent Heidi Feigin and their 11-year-old daughter.
